The Walking Drunk: At Least They’re Not Drinking and Driving

Halloween brings out the scarier side of our personalities, no matter how old we are, and there are few things scarier than zombies, right? No, not really. What is even scarier are adults who just cannot seem to control how much they’ve been drinking, which inevitably leads to some interesting situations we can all use as examples of what not to do when tempted by one more beer at the end of a night. It is also a perfect example of the dangers of drinking and driving.

“The Walking Drunk” video sensation is one example of how alcohol dangerously changes us from normal, productive citizens into… over-intoxicated “walkers,” like those on The Walking Dead. Stumbling, mumbling, unable to walk in a straight line, the world is spinning for these people, and the ride of intoxication they’re on shows just how dangerous it would be if they were drinking and driving. Really, these men and women need to find some time to sleep it off and rethink the decision to have that last drink before trying to navigate the scary sidewalks and convenience store aisles of life.

When you’re asked if you want one more drink “for the road,” remember that you should never risk drinking and driving, considering that walking is pretty tough at the legal blood alcohol concentration (BAC) limit of .08 or higher. Drunk driving accidents can be tragic, but, alcohol is a factor in many pedestrian accidents, too, and too much alcohol can lead to other problems, as well.  Plus, there is no shortage of people ready to make your stumbles a viral video sensation. These types of videos are amusing, until you realize that the person falling on the sidewalk could very well have been driving home and put your life or the lives of your family and friends at risk. It doesn’t get any scarier than that.
