Who Needs a Car Breathalyzer in Texas?

Do you need a car breathalyzer in Texas? When you are driving around Texas with your friends, chances are that none of you are thinking you need a car breathalyzer or ignition interlock device to prove your sobriety. Even if you know you will be drinking, you probably have a designated driver or other plan for getting home safely. Being a responsible driver is just one way to show you care about others, and it is especially great when you can trust the other drivers on the road are sober behind the wheel, too. But, what about those drivers who aren’t as dedicated to sober driving as you?

They are the drivers who need a car breathalyzer.

DWI laws in Texas are rough on all convicted offenders, and even those waiting for their day in DWI court. Even a first-time DWI carries strict penalties, and in order to legally drive again, a DWI offender needs to install a car breathalyzer on their vehicle. They need a car breathalyzer to assure other drivers and the court that they are sober when driving. Plus, even before a DWI is a reality, a driver may need the reminder of a possible car breathalyzer requirement if they choose to drink and drive.

Also, if you think you might need a car breathalyzer, then you probably do.

Driving while intoxicated in Texas will not only provide your path to car breathalyzer ownership, but, it is a dangerous and potentially deadly decision that destroys lives each day. It is pretty obvious that anyone who thinks they can drink and drive are the same people who need a car breathalyzer and those who continue to drink and drive after a DWI need a car breathalyzer, too. The only people who do not need a car breathalyzer in Texas are those who plan ahead for a safe night with a designated driver or another way home after drinking.
