What Happens if you Drive in Oklahoma without an IID?

No breathalyzer in car in OklahomaSome things in life are not optional, especially when you’ve been convicted of driving while intoxicated. That DWI in Oklahoma has shown you the error of your ways, and with all of the court costs and fines, the substance abuse evaluation and the car breathalyzer or ignition interlock device (IID), it seems only fair for something to be optional. You might even think you could just hop behind the wheel of a friend’s car to run a quick errand… you know you are sober and that you will only be a few minutes. What is the worst that can happen?

More criminal charges. More fines and court costs. A longer IID requirement, or removal from the program, entirely. If you drive without an IID in Oklahoma, you are violating the terms of your conviction, and that will not be seen in a positive manner, even if you are sober. If you are intoxicated, you will very likely face even stricter consequences for your actions. The IID requirement for your Oklahoma DWI is not an option, but, it is your chance to turn your life around after your drunk driving conviction.

Since you are under the order of a court to only drive with your IID, it only makes sense that you don’t push the issue. If your focus is on rebuilding your life and staying far away from any further troubles, driving without an IID is never an option, anyway. As long as you remain compliant and “do your time” with your interlock, the rest of your recovery time after your DWI should be as easy as possible and from there, you can look forward to a future where your options are wide open… as long as you remain sober behind the wheel.
