Having Car Breathalyzer Trouble?

Car breathalyzer trouble can ruin your dayThere’s nothing worse than running late and having car trouble, except maybe when you’re having car breathalyzer trouble. The good news is that most of the time the trouble is usually more about timing or technique and it won’t affect your track record with the device. The bad news is that you have to be absolutely sure that you’re doing everything you’re supposed to, in order to remain compliant with your requirement. For instance, your car breathalyzer trouble could be:

  • Temperature: In cold climates, it can take a while for your unit to warm up, so make sure you allow for that time.
  • Your mouth: Your mouthwash or medications that contain alcohol need a bit of time to dissipate from your mouth before you submit a breath sample.
  • Your Hum: If you don’t have the right hum technique, your testing experience will be more difficult.
  • Missed service appointments. If you don’t make it to your scheduled appointments, your device will eventually enter into a “lockout” mode, keeping you from driving until the unit is serviced.

If none of those sound familiar, then you may need to evaluate the situation. If your car breathalyzer trouble is a result of the “morning after” effect of drinking, then you haven’t had enough time to sleep off the party from the night before. You may not even realize you are technically intoxicated and that you woke up with a buzz.

When it comes down to it, car breathalyzer trouble can be easily fixed and you can be on your way within a few minutes. Taking the extra time needed to ensure a clean breath test is worth it, especially considering the frustration of a car breathalyzer that won’t let you drive. That and being completely sure you are not even a bit intoxicated when you drive will get you through your time requirement as simply as possible.
