bigstock-Young-Smiling-African-American-18370898Whether transporting people or animals, bringing food and clothing to those in need, or running errands and attending events, nonprofit organizations often use cars to enhance the good work they do and extend the reach and efficiency of that good work. However, a new car can be pricey for a nonprofit, so they usually accept used cars donated by people in the community. While used cars certainly get the job done, they don’t always last very long and aren’t as safe and dependable as a newer car.

In an effort to help nonprofit organizations across the country better perform the good work they do, Toyota started the 100 Cars for Good program. Now in its third year, 100 Cars for Good is a program through which Toyota gives one nonprofit organization a brand new Toyota car every day for 50 days.

100 Cars for Good for 2013 launched on October 1, and this year, Toyota is doing things a little different… They’re giving new vehicles to two nonprofit organizations every day of the 50-day program! But who exactly decides which of thousands of organizations working to do good for their community, state, or the entire nation gets a new car for their organization? You!

Using Facebook as their platform, Toyota accepts applications from nonprofit organizations all across the country and chooses 250 finalists. Each day from October 1 through November 19, five finalists are featured on the program’s Facebook page. You and Facebook users across the country can log in, read more about each organization and the work they do, and vote for the two organizations you think would do the most good with a new car.

While 100 Cars for Good is already on its 29th day, you can still help 42 deserving nonprofit organizations receive a new car through November 19. Simply visit www.carsforgood.com or the 100 Cars for Good Facebook page, log in to your Facebook account, and vote for two of the five organizations featured. (When using the program’s website, you may not be prompted to log in to Facebook until you are submitting your votes.)

Be sure to read about each cause to get a better idea of which organization could do the most good with a new car! If a sober ride program or another nonprofit organization designed to prevent drunk driving or help victims of drunk drivers pops up, we encourage you to help stop drunk driving by voting for them.
