Synthetic Alcohol: No Hangover, No DUI… Not So Fast!

You are here: Home / General Information / Synthetic Alcohol: No Hangover, No DUI… Not So Fast!
October 6, 2016 by Editorial Staff

synthetic alcohol could increase DUI drivingToo many people think that the worst part about drinking too much is the hangover the next morning. There are all sorts of tricks to alleviating symptoms like headaches and nausea. There are even drink combinations you can try to stave off that morning-after blur. Now, there may even be a new alcohol that avoids hangovers, entirely: synthetic alcohol.

Synthetic alcohol sounds like a dream come true, but there is always that worst nightmare scenario to consider. Not having a hangover is great, yet the problem remains that a hangover is a big reason people don’t drink to excess. It also is the least of the problem when it comes to drinking. By reducing the personal “day after” risk, synthetic alcohol could also decrease a person’s first instinct about how much alcohol is okay to drink, especially where driving is concerned. No potential hangover could lead to another drink or two, maybe a shot and then a DUI on the way home. That DUI could also mean that a person has to worry about a car breathalyzer (ignition interlock) device at the very least.

Drinking alcohol naturally lends itself to poor judgment, especially when drinking alcohol is such a mood lifter at first. Many people find it hard to turn down another drink, either wanting to maintain or increase their level of happiness from their favorite alcoholic beverage. That same lack of judgment leads to choices to get behind the wheel and drive, or eliminates that entire process of questioning. Too much alcohol leads to an “auto pilot” situation where the person just drives home on instinct, with a potentially fatal outcome.

Any alcohol, whether synthetic, powdered or the real deal is risky when you have to drive yourself home. We all want to avoid the problems of a hangover, and the best way to do that is the same as avoiding a DUI: drinking any type of alcohol responsibly.
