A drunk driver is one of the biggest dangers on the road, causing damage, injury or even death because of a choice to drive while intoxicated. Most of the time, these men and women are arrested and convicted of drunk driving during a traffic stop on a public road. However, drunk drivers do occasionally make it easy on law enforcement by being a lot more obvious about their intoxication. Two recent DWI cases in Michigan show how wrong it is to drink and drive and without a doubt, these “mistakes” saved lives, and kept other drivers safe from harm.
A Michigan woman recently proved that her judgment was not impaired a bit by the alcohol she had been drinking before driving her car. It seems that in her concern for the rest of the drivers on the road, loosely interpreted as her thinking she was parking at a bar, she parked in front of a police station and was arrested for DWI.
Still, there are those who don’t necessarily make the effort to drive directly to the police station for a DWI arrest, but, they make it pretty clear they’re too drunk to drive a car. A Michigan man was recently arrested for driving a lawnmower while intoxicated. While the man had carefully attached flashlights to the vehicle as headlights, following safe nighttime driving guidelines, it seems that he was still not supposed to be driving any vehicle… because he was intoxicated… again.
The obvious mistake made by these Michiganites was thinking they could each operate a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, and it wasn’t their first time to be in that dangerous driver’s seat. Since a drunk driver “gets it wrong” an estimated 80 times prior to any conviction, the odds are that without an ignition interlock device and other deterrents, this pair will continue to attempt more drunk driving mistakes for years to come.
