The Secret to Driving in California after Multiple DUIs

You are here: Home / Resources / The Secret to Driving in California after Multiple DUIs
June 2, 2015 by Editorial Staff

An ignition interlock could get you back on the road after 2 or more DUIs Driving a vehicle without a valid license is nothing to fool around with in California. After a DUI, or multiple DUIs, it can be tempting to shrug off your restriction and keep driving. After all, you still have to get back and forth to work and your family needs you to drive them around, too. Instead of driving illegally, you have another option, even if you’ve racked up two or three DUI convictions in California. You can restore your driving freedom, without restriction… all you have to do is install a car breathalyzer or ignition interlock.

Four counties in California currently require ignition interlocks for all offenders, and legislation in the state may eventually include all DUI offenders in all counties to install the devices. Until then, outside of Los Angeles, Sacramento, Alameda, and Tulare counties, you can install an ignition interlock to reduce your license suspension time and get back on the road, legally. Multiple DUIs in California don’t have to mean you lose your job or your family suffers, and outside of those four counties, you can choose the ignition interlock in order to maintain those responsibilities. You can even keep enjoying your life outside of work and home.

Habitual drinking and driving is a danger to those on the road, and for your family at home. You have plenty of people who are counting on you to make the right choices, which means doing your best to not face a DUI again… and not let your past mistakes affect your future happiness. Since California allows you to reduce your license suspension period after multiple DUI offenses with an interlock, the state keeps believing that you can turn your life around, and that the choice is yours. All you have to do is commit to proving you are sober behind the wheel, and let the past go while you drive into your better, brighter future.
